FD of the Year Award - Well done Marie!

Marie Cooper, financial director of President Engineering Group, which is the parent company for Bestobell Valves and Conflow, has won the Young FD of the Year category in the national FD’s Excellence Awards for 2013.

Marie was shortlisted alongside five other financial directors from amongst hundreds of nominations across the country, with the announcement made at a glittering ceremony on 9th May at the Marriott Hotel in London’s Grosvenor Square.

Marie commented, “I am truly shocked, surprised and delighted to win this prestigious title! It has been a fantastic experience to meet so many leading figures in the world of finance and to really raise the profile of our company on a national basis. The awards ceremony in London was a fantastic night and it was an honour to be chosen amongst so many exceptional candidates for this title.”

Judges for the FD’s Excellence Awards said: “Marie is “amazing” and has really taken her role by the horns. She is passionate but also modest and has worked her way up through the organisation. She has taken on every challenge that she has faced in a positive, feisty and commercial way. She is a great role model for other young FDs.”

‘Great Pie & Peas Up’ for St Luke’s Hospice

Following on from the success of the Christmas raffle, President Engineering Group Ltd were once again delighted to support St Luke’s Hospice, this time by hosting a ‘Great Pie & Peas Up’ event.

Staff were invited to bake their own pies, bringing them into work to share with colleagues in return for a donation to St Luke’s Hospice. A fantastic selection of pies were produced and served with mushy peas, gravy, mint sauce and Sheffield’s Henderson’s relish. Iain Hendry, Purchasing Manager, made a delicious Chicken, Leek and Ham pie, and for a £1 donation, challenged colleagues to guess the weight of this magnificent pie!

St Luke’s has been Sheffield’s Hospice since 1971 and every year supports over 1,400 people with a terminal illness. The £200 raised by President Engineering Group Ltd will go towards the building of a new in-patient unit at St Luke’s Hospice, giving patients and their families the privacy and dignity they need at a time where every day matters.
